if it has a detectable amount of mercury you def do not want to bake it. Mercury becomes gas at a very low temp and is extremly deadly when in gas form. We had a mercury spill in my middle school and they had to close the entire school down because the janitor came in a vacuumed it up. Fire department came, school was closed for about a week. Pretty much any cloth like material in the class room at the time had to be disposed of by the hazmat crew...pretty crazy...
I have no idea how you remove mercury safely and then dispose of it...if it is standard mercury levels like people talk about in every lake and river then dont worry about it I would say, but if its a proven unsafe level, then take caution...
