Making my 150g dream tank a reality

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I totally understand why you would not want to tear it down and move it. I vote you still get after it though. Dream tanks shouldn't get **** down by a move here and there. It's not as bad as it seems. One day of transport and a little back pain is worth every moment of your dream tank up and running. I respect your decision either way, I just could not see all those lovely top notch items you've purchased not in use!

I sure hope you get to keep your midas. If you can't, we will all still be here looking forward to your build when you do :)

^ I meant "shot down". My bad, sorry Natalie  mods wanna fix 'er up for me?

I've had a 150 in storage for almost a year now, I keep trying to figure out what we could move around to make it fit in this place now. and find a way to keep my 2 75's up and running to, but the girlfriend isn't making it easy for me.

That's a bummer about the delay. Oh well. I had a 180 gallon sit in storage for almost a year before I could set it up.I had the same issues with space. But once we moved,it was worth the wait. Good luck with everything.

I'm sorry to hear about the moving and possible setup issue Natalie :( I know you and the rest of us were eagerly waiting for this tank to be set up. I know if I was closer I could house your midas for you until you got the tank up and running.

You never know, maybe you can set up the tank in your new place. I'll have my fingers crossed for ya.

Thanks guys, it is kind of a bummer to know it won't be set up for a while, but I keep telling myself, the hard part is done! I have everything I need for a truly awesome setup. And it'll all still be waiting for me when it's finally the right time to get it going.

Hey Justin, I totally understand where you're coming from. Unfortunately, the reason I'm not setting it up isn't really because of the move. It's because after I move, I might rent a place where, due to space or being on the 2nd floor or whatever, having the 150g set up isn't possible. If I only had to worry about the move, I'd probably be filling the tank up as we speak. :D But I don't see a point in setting it up and stocking it, only to have to tear it down in April.

So... that's where I'm at right now with the 150g. Basically it's sitting in my living room reminding me of how beautiful it is, haha!

As for the 40g, I ordered an Eheim 2217 for it on Friday! I'd like to pick out a nice 3d background for it too, but money is a little limited right now due to the holidays. I'm thinking of getting the AquaTerra Amazon Tree, which you can see from a pic I borrowed:

My dad has this background on his planted tank, so when I go visit them I'm going to see how I like it. :)

The Eheim 2217 arrived and I set it up in the 40g yesterday. It's so nice to have a dead-silent canister instead of those two loud Penguin 350s! I hope to decide on a 3D background for the 40g soon. I'm also thinking of updating the 40g to a 50g breeder (same footprint, a little taller) to better showcase a background and give me a little more water to work with in the tank. As I said before, after my move this may very well be the only tank I have set up. :( I want to make it gorgeous.

Can't wait to see it Natalie :) still got my fingers crossed about you finding a new place that can accommodate the 150g. ;)

I got extra room, your moving in with us. Bring your tanks and filters. My wife will be mad at first but when she see's all that Eheim green.. she'll understand. "but honey she has a 2262 can we keep her??"

j/k you ever see the UGF kit they make to hook up to Eheim classics? I had one on my old 55 gallon and liked it. Check em out, its an idea for a 3D BG option if your not going sand. I liked it because it pulled in watter from the bottom. Awesome mech.

Thanks Tomeiko :) Although I'm not getting my hopes up, I hope to find a place that'll let me have the 150g too.

THAT is hilarious! :grinno: Hahahah... Eheims do tend to win people over though, I gotta admit.

Yes, I've seen the attachment thing for mechanical filtration that Eheim offers. I think it'd be great! I wonder if it'd work behind the background, even if there's sand in front of the background. Hmm... I'd have to make sure there was no way sand could get into it.
