Protomelas sp. "Steveni Taiwan" (Taiwan Reef)

Ok this is a stunning fish, another must have. They are very pieceful, though I have seen them be the dominate fish in a tank. (Even over a red empress). These guys grow very fast to the 4 inch mark then they slow down but will eventually get to ~8 inches over many years.

There color is all dependent on if the fish is a dominate or at least feels confident, unlike some other haps that will show some very good color. I had to wait for a whole year on my 5 inch male till he started showing such good color that he is now, and I would say that this is half of his potential. I can't emphasis how stunning these fish can be.

Just so you know having an albino and normal color together has given me no problems. Though I did attempt to have 3 albinos grow up together. I ended up have 1 very well colored one that was 3-4 inches, 1 ok colored that was 3 inches, and one with no color at 2 inches. I pulled out the bigest and put it in this tank and now the 3 incher is about the same size and has at least as much color, but the 2 incher had barly grown. Anyways pulled him out put in another tank, starting to show some promise finally.

So in other words, exspect pecking order for eating and coloring. But man if someone can pull off a group of full colored albino and normals it would be a sight.

Ok

Aulonocara stuartgranti (Ngara), aka Flametail Peacock

So often I hear from people asking where they can find an red peacock/hap. Well folks this is one of the few types that people have been able to line breed into a red strain. I have 1 but unfortunately he is a sub dom in the main tank, and a huge harasser in any smaller tank. That being said you can see what the red ones semi look like if you do a google image search.

Ok another traditional staple peacock. If you don't have one what are you waiting for? Anywho they maybe aren't as stunning as the Taiwan Reef, but if you have space, ie ~100 gallon or more and want a few more fish make this one of them. Yah I am not being scientific but they are a good fish, fairly active, not very aggressive. (Though mine will lock lips with the sub dom, and my German Red, if I am lucky I will get a vid of it.)

Also I say DON'T try multiple ones in the tank. It just plane hasn't worked for me. And right now I am pissed because as I said the sub dom looks much cooler but for some odd reason they wont work in my smaller tank. But man the sub dom as you can see in the vid is a really ugly fish and that has been that way for at least a half a year.

So the end of the story, search for an red strain. (They can be found.) Buy 1 and be happy. Oh and max size is ~5 inches but they tend to be more slender and longer than the traditional peacock is thought of, ie very hap like.

First thanks for posting, now I want to emphasis that I really would like people to add some comments. Hence why I am not just posting pictures of all my fish at once. If you don't wish to I will add some comments about them, at least giving there names and where people can find more info on them. I recognize all the none line breds, but a few I likely couldn't say there area for sure.

So I ask that you add some comments if possible. If you don't I will likely chime in with my own comments latter tonight.

Be on the look out tomorrow for some additions to your current list !
