I need to take a recent pic he looks weird there. But he is def taller bodied. I have no idea how he has surpassed his siblings so fast. When i show u a pic of the size diff youll be amazed.
Yeah i got mine from gage at cichlid connection.com ive yet to order a batch from rapps. Thinking about it though to see if they look diff. And i have yet to see any for sale from a male like jagster or the other really blue ones.

i think rapps has a pair of blue that he breeds. i got mine from a local guy. i could possibly get more if there is interest. if interested pm me. i can wait to see how this one turns out. i also got three jags from him. i am hoping to get a pair.

Ive never seen rapps pair. I might get some from him anyways to get new blood to breed. Like i said i dont wamt to breed any of these males to the females they came with unless one female looks amazing and worth inbreeding.

i think he has pics on his site. i beileve the ones he has now are from his pair. i am not sure on that so dont qoute me on it. i remember seeing them listed at one point, but i am always checking his stock so exactly when i could be mixing.

Hey all, on the lighting and catching blues, I always makesure my lights are as far forward as possible then the fish have the light bounce of their front and their colours look better... Obvious to some not too others so I thought I'd slip that one in!-)
I have a costa rican, their bodies are more compact, you can tell a nic by its purple grey base. You got to remember not all fish look like that ideal specimen we want it to be, just like umbee just because you buy it dosnt mean its gonna be that colorful one you saw in a magazine! I ordered a pair from Rapps (DOVII) and they were brown no freckles very blan. But I have.seen some gorgeous ones also from Rapps. Even in the wild there are nice looking Wilds and dull looking wilds.
Woofy, your Dovii is only 4 inch give him some time mine started getting strong blues around 6 to 7 inch and at 13 inch he is still getting blue. Every fish is different. Also male or female can get speckling above the lateral line at that size not females not always but does happen then they loose them, happen to me. Dovii should be called Patience lol cause you need alot of it, but has high rewards!

Notice the white body and the blue runs from his nose along his back, the blue is more of a sky blue, that's Costa Rican blue. Nics seen to have more royal blue.

Yeah i do see a difference in body shape. Just because I'm trying to gain an understanding doesnt mean i have no patience. But if thats how its coming off i rather not ask anymore.
