Wild guess but it looks like it might be a Costa Rican. Seems to have a yellow base?

Thats a nic. I ordered from a reliable source. Not store bought. I dont know why he looks so yellow in the picture but in person its a gray/blue silver sheen which is why in the picture with the flash it looks green because the yellow and his blue makes it look green. I have another one i got at the same time which i believe to be a yellow wolf male. Problem is i dont know if yellow wolf means nic or costa rican. As in is there a blue and yellow nic variant or are all yellows costa ricans. Give me a min i showz you itz!

from what i understand all yellow wolf, p. dovii yellow, or any nonfemale yellow reference is cr. all blue dovii are nic. that is my understanding. unless you get a hybrid of both then all bets are off. no telling the difference. that is my understanding anyway.

This makes sense. Because my female nics look just like the male minus the spots and blue but this other one is bright yellow AlTHOUGH doesnt body shape play a large role in telling the diff also? Because my baby costa ricans are showing the same colors as this male BUT i notice theyre a bit shorter and taller bodied. Not long and thin. So i think this nonfemale yellow one is a yellow nic variant but we could be all wrong. Is there no dovii specialist here lol :nilly:

My phone refuses to show actual colors. But as you can see this one is as yellow without flash as the big one with flash. This is from the same batch but someone else raised this one and its not as big as mine so its playing catch up. This one is about 3-4". Blue on fins golden yellow body and might be showing the peppering?

i'm guessing yellow wolf would be a costa rican. unless its a gold variety. i have no idea what the golds are though just saw some on youtube

and ye i see it on the top half but i think it has to have the peppering on top and bottom to be a male

here is a few pics of my f1 costa rican dovii. i have a hard time getting the blues to show up aswell. but from what i see the last fish you posted looks the same. mine it about 2-2.5"
