Male Festae community tank

You have to realize those youtube videos do not provide history of the tank. How often fish have been moved out, how often new fish are placed in there. What you see is a single snapshot in time. You rarely see updates. The ones that do provide tank updates, you will notice stock has changed.

Go straight to the 350g, and skip the growout 125g tank. The hierarchy will change in a larger tank, and you have to be willing to deal with loss of $$ when that happens.

As I mentioned 125gallon then 350gallon 8ft tank!. It comes down to : Tank size and the individual fish ?

American Cichlids Community Tank
In my opinion this tank is very overstocked and that is why it has worked so far. Similar to scenario of how many people keep cichlids from Africa, in a very over stocked tank to curve aggression and to make sure one individual is not singled out.

Even in a 350G I would not attempt it. As duanes duanes mentioned you are taking the alpha leaders of their respective Biotopes and expecting them to coexist in a drop of water compared to their natural habitats.

Is it possible it could work? Yes. Is it likely it will work, no. Also keep in mind that many of the species you listed are known to get along in the beginning then later in life over might snap and whip out a tank of all other inhabitants.

As I said, you may try it if you would like, but statistically the chances of it working out in the long term (not just short term) are slim. I personally to slim down the species you pick to keep, choose fish from the same continent / similar biotope and go from there. In a 350G you have an opportunity to create something truely spectacular
