Wait till the convicts get a little bigger and they can makes all large fish stay in a corner....You needs to remove the convicts if you want to breeding JD. Otherwise you can have World War III in the 55gal.

He is right. If you wanna do a con jd hybrid find a large male con smaller or similar sized female jd and let them grow together they will eventually breed. But once again can only be them in the 55

Okay. I was talking to my dad and he said he will let me get a very large tank after he fixes up my basement because one of the windows broke in the basement and it flooded. So he said I can get a big tank. He said hold off on the huge 500+ tank and he said I'm not ready for it. I'll probably end up getting a 180 and another 55. For now

Yeah that's what you said that one before and nothing happens

I wasn't gonna say it but since you did.. I think we can pretty much write off anything Andrew says about tanks and any time he asks for advice since just about everything he says will happen doesn't and any advice we give him that doesn't fit in with what he wants to do he just ignores..

Andrew, it sounds like you have passion for the hobby and I give you +1 for that. You need to cultivate it and direct it. I am a fan of the various species/colors and unfortunately lake of space/tanks and cohabitation of these species.

1. Words of advice remove the butter dish lid.
2. Decide if you want community tanks or breeding.
3rd is most important, let these guys help you and prove to them you can be a responsible/respected owner in this hobby. In this hobby we feed off each other and if we breed quality specimens and if others want the fry, if the person picks them up or covers the shipping they normally get the fish for almost nothing.

The lid isn't in the tank its lodged behind It. I'd rather have a large community or just multiple breeding tanks.

Wow all of this is going on in a 55 gallon tank?

How do you plan to breed Jd's with a breeding pair of convicts a pleco and an oscar in the same tank?

Yeah I knew it was behind the tank. But it kind of points to a lazy hobbyist. Set up a community tank with the ADULT measurements in mind. Set up breeding tanks for the breeding pairs with fry tanks (already cycled/running)
