Male or Female Red Devil??

Recently picked up this RD body is a little stunted as it was previously kept in a 30 gallon! Can anyone tell me if this fish is male or female Im thinking male by head shape and fin shape but Im really not sure. Also will the stunting go away now that it is living in a much larger tank or will there be lasting effects?

on second thought maybe not stunted at all just very thick and stocky body almost as high as long

I don't know for sure if it is stunted. Do you know how old it is? First guess for me would be male, but I cannot say that with too much confidence. The body shape could also be some sort of defect or could be a hybrid I suppose. Looks to be in good shape though!

With out venting it it's tough. I almost want to say female but I'm not even sure what mine is and I don't want to pull it just to look. I saw one a few months ago on this site with a really big hump looked liked a nice male and the guy said he couldn't beleave it started laying eggs, so go figure.

I think it looks like a male, females usually have more rounded fins from what I've seen.

to me it looks like one of its parents was a parrot to give it the short stocky look

It definitely looks part parrot, if not full (sort of looks like a King Kong parrot). I can't get a good enough look at the vent to tell gender, but it's a good looking fish!

This is a picture of a King Kong Parrot. I think yours may very well be one. Or, it may have be a devil x KKP cross.
