Yeah that Rd is a hybrid. Doesnt even look like an RD more like a parrot. Plus you cant go by the head shape and fins with RS's and Midas. Females develop a small hump also. You have to vent to be sure.

Never even heard of king kong done some looking around and definately seems like one. It is nice looking but I have to say Im a little disappointed that I turns out to not be RD/Midas but I'll just have to get used to the idea. Can I expect to see any classic amphilophus behavior out of this fish i.e. aggression, intelligence?
doesnt Have any hint of that hideous parrot face though so maybe a cross hopefully it is still an enjoyable fish to keep
It will have the classic Amphilophus additude. If it's a KKP it will just be smaller which isn't always a bad thing. What is it now, about 5"? The 9" Midas/RD I have is a Petsmart fish so I heve no illusion it's pure but I like it and that's what matters, it's you're fish. Mine is a little beaky too, I'm not crazy about it's looks but, it is what it is. I bought it at 2" for 5 bucks so I have nothing to complain about.
