depends.......some digestive systems re stronger than others just like with people. I wouldn't give any of my fish larger than a fuzzy mouse. My alligators used to get mice weekly and I had to clean the filter twice as much.....would have been more if they ate more than 1 at a timeDoesnt tossing a mouse on there make a freaken mess of the water?
Are they able to digest fur?
eeeeeewwwwwww, gross! When my wolf fish devoured the house mouse the results were a little messy with guts and entrails wadded up in the intake strainer.I did a big water change and had to clean out the hang on filter
Tell me about it and that stuff stunk too.eeeeeewwwwwww, gross!
My Alligators and Monitor lizards used to do the "head shake" and the Monitors had a habit of using the front claws to slash and rip while they were killing their mice and every once in a while when they shook their head, the guts would fly out of the mouse and hit the tank or ceiling.......sometimes if you were close enough, you'd get an organ stuck across your shirt or even on your face. It was gnarly lolTell me about it and that stuff stunk too.
I can imagine the mess that monitors could be capable of making.Which monitors did you keep?My Alligators and Monitor lizards used to do the "head shake" and the Monitors had a habit of using the front claws to slash and rip while they were killing their mice and every once in a while when they shook their head, the guts would fly out of the mouse and hit the tank or ceiling.......sometimes if you were close enough, you'd get an organ stuck across your shirt or even on your face. 2 Niles and a Savannah, and I also had a Colombian Black-and-White Tegu, which isn't technically a monitor, but their closest living relativeI can imagine the mess that monitors could be capable of making.Which monitors did you keep?
Nice...I have always liked the tegu dating back to when I took a liking to one that was at the shop I worked at years ago.2 Niles and a Savannah, and I also had a Colombian Black-and-White Tegu, which isn't technically a monitor, but their closest living relative
They can be really tame and they can also be psychotic......like Nile-status. Mine was chill, but I had a customer who owned one bought fro the Pet store I worked at, he said it was Demonic. I told him I woud come over 1-2x per week to tame him but he didn't want to "pay for a trainer" LOL I wonder what happened with them.....Nice...I have always liked the tegu dating back to when I took a liking to one that was at the shop I worked at years ago.
