Mammal-off

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They can be really tame and they can also be psychotic......like Nile-status. Mine was chill, but I had a customer who owned one bought fro the Pet store I worked at, he said it was Demonic. I told him I woud come over 1-2x per week to tame him but he didn't want to "pay for a trainer" LOL I wonder what happened with them.....
I'll have to have a teg some day but the wife has a near phobia of lizards....out of all the creatures I have brought home over the years that is where she draws the line lol.

there ARE certainly a fair amount of Monitor lizards that stay under 24" and some even less. Many of them come from Australia and fortunately they are very very strict with their wildlife regulations and laws, but I have no doubt you guys can find something in the 140+ Varanids that will not skeez-out the wives. I have seen grown men cradling 6-7 foot Water Moonitors like they are babies. I would rather have a 6 foot monitor than a 6 INCH Tokay Gecko.....aside from a select few most Monitors can be quite tame with a little effort and TLC......

TLC = Teeth, Lashing and Claws ;)

....no but really, they are chill.

When my wolf fish devoured the house mouse the results were a little messy with guts and entrails wadded up in the intake strainer.I did a big water change and had to clean out the hang on filter
That's what I was thinking would happen. I imagine it's pretty messy.

I actually quite like mice, and would probably feel like utter s*it if i knew i'd just caused one to die, quite honestly.

When I was 16, I had a corn snake that I would feed frozen mice; I mistakenly thought they were humanely killed, until I found some with clear finger marks and obvious broken spines, my friend also showed me the frozen rabbits he fed to his python; which had boot prints on their backs. That was it for me, sold the snake and haven't looked "back" (sorry that was a horrific pun).

No predators for me thanks

That's quite an insight. I never thought about this feeder meterial before the way you described. Quite a shocker actually.
