blah blah blah..... nile monitor teeth although can cut are nothing compared to other species, if you look at their teeth/jaws theyre made mostly for crushing.

Maybe its just me but a nile moniter can indeed kill pets and injure humans. I doubt a small dog/puppy would have much of a chance against a six foot nile and I bet a tail lashing and lacerations from large claws could do some damage (injure) to a human....
I mean its not like the guy found a Care Bear in his yard, so yeah I dont think the writer was wrong saying that a six foot lizard could injure a human or kill pets!
So could a horse or a cow, but it doesn't mean when they are mentioned in the news they put in the first paragraph "a kick from one of these could be lethal". It's all about image, and the negative one. Just to make their story sound more interesting too.

To put it in perspective, personally, if I were to encounter a large monitor in the yard (or an escaped large boid for that matter) I wouldn't hesitate to try to capture it. But I'd want no part of an adult raccoon for example.

lol me to. I hear these neat stories of people in S.Florida finding albino boas, unusual CA kings, etc .
I have seen a tokay but I need something like an albino or piebald Ball python lol.
