Man catches 881-pound tuna, seized by feds

Shame that the Feds will pocket all the money from this seizure. Bet that thing is on its way to the Tsukiji fish auctions in Tokyo as we speak!

He caught that fish with a net! Tuna are very fast fish and were built for speed. They can beat their tail up to fifty beats per second and even have grooves that they can fit thier fins so they can be even faster. I caught one before and they feel like you snagged something as if the boat was gong 50 mph

I for one am glad it got snagged by the feds. Too many animals like this get taken illegally and then the people just say "Oh I didn't know" when they get caught. Sorry excuse for someone who makes a living fishing. They'll put the money back into wildlife law enforcement, so I'm sure it will get used well to keep fish like this off the black market.

Our Oceans are dying, and its a really shame that people like this fisherman live on the planet, people should be more respectful of our world. What a complete waste of a beautiful fish, no wonder many fish species are dying out.

I've got friends who are commercial fishermen and they know the law inside and out. I think its a cop out to say, "I didn't know" on something like that. He probably knew but admitting to knowing is admitting to committing a crime. Plus, we all get to learn something. The lesson here is if you are a small business man you can't afford the bribes it takes to get the feds to look the other way. Now mitsubishi on the other hand has that kind of money and so they are destroying tuna stocks.

I would have a stuck hook and trace in his mouth and told them it was rod caught and split the proceeds with the crew, it wasnt like they intended to catch it and thowing it back is a waste of alife/food. goverments lie and deceive so i wouldnt hesitate
