I opened up my new bag for my XP3.
it is going in the top basket but.
the 20count didn't even fill up half of the tray...is it gonna really be effective?
it better, since the quantity was low and the price was high...

Supposedly, they can handle a lot. I bought two boxes myself. I have had them in two different tanks for a little over two weeks now. I can't really tell any difference, but the tanks are healthy so I guess they are working.

do you use any other bio media? in what kinda filter?

I have 1.5 liters of matrix + biomax in each of my Xp3's.

You can get Biomax or Matrix at Petsmart for about $10.

Yes, I bought mine just to add more media to two different filters. One is a Fluval 405 nad the other is a Eiham pro II. I caught mine on sale at a LFS. He had had them for some time and just wanted the self space so he made me a deal on the last two.

I put a bag of the biostars in with my normal bio media.

too expensive to fill up a whole tray with them IMO.

would it work in a XP3 even though it doesn't fill up the whole space?
note: there are 3 other bio media below it.
eheim ehfilav, super porous ceramic media, and bioglass

Yeah it will work. Add some scrubbies with them.
