Picked up both of these babies for $9. The LFS said that someone brought these in on a trade for a flowerhorn. The LFS didn't know what they were and were going to put them in an "assorted cichlid" tank
..... I'm hoping they are male/female?
They are both approx. 4-4 1/2 inches with the larger one having darker markings (first and second pic). I attempted to vent them and looked like Oo and OO but maybe someone can ID by pic.

I thought so, I'll keep updating further on down the road. Hopefully time will tell otherwise. At least I have some time to get the next tank set up for these guys! They will definitely need their own!

Just a few more for the end of the night!

Now that they are comfortable at home, I want to say #1 is female, #2 Male, #3 female(top) and male(bottom) any more input?

They've been swimming around like crazy and finally settled in to one of my rock caves. They are cleaning up the area, rubbing up against each other and circling. I'm not sure how long it takes for them to court/breed but they are definitely fond of each other. Is it too soon for them to breed? As stated above they are 4-4 1/2 inches.

Thank you all for the input/kind words. This site, and all the people commenting and contributing have been extremely helpful in learning this hobby.

Id say it sounds like there pairing up ready to breed happy days :D not quite sure what she they start to actually spawn , but at 41/2" they should be well on there way for producing loads of fry , what other tankmates they got ?

For now they are in a 100G with 3 Festae. That will definitely change...hopefully soon. I am waiting on a good deal from a friend on another 100G just for these two. They are all getting along pretty good for now but once they start the show, were going to have problems. To avoid any serious issues I have a tank separator nearby (just in case).
