Thanks for that bro, I'll try to do everything you've said. How about pinky mice tho? My friend has a stable source of pinkies

Maybe as a treat every now and again but not a staple of its diet. Definetly fish and crustaceans over mamal meat. Mines a garbage disposal starve it and it will eat. Theres plenty of threads about weening off live foods.

How about tankmates? Is it true that tankmates may work for a while, but it'll ultimately lead to the MJ murdering everyone else in the tank?

With enough space and the right size tank mates im sure it would be fine, But thats a big tank and each fish is different I personally wouldnt risk it. They have the dentistry and power to do real damage example mine looks readyfor halloween20171029_103449.jpg . Theres a few on here who have done it succesfully i think the 12" and up mark it gets harder.

Do you think something like a Dorado or a Brycon can coexist with it?
Never had any experience with one to be honest. I imagine its all chance and tank size. Youd get more traffic on that question in general aquaria i think.

So I put a light over his tank for the first tonight. He took it quite well. I was expecting him to melt big time. So the first pic was about an hour with light on.
The second pic was better colour but he absolutely hated the iPhone. So that was him showing his disapproval lol.
His lights on a timer now so he should get better soon I think. The second pic was after a couple hours. I’m gona do a video of him feeding when I’m there next.

Iv been so busy bro I ain’t even been able to stop to pic some up. But I’ll try and get some tomorrow. When I’m back there I’ll shoot a video for you so you can see if he takes them. He smashes mussels like you wouldn’t believe..I’m quite surprised really that he didn’t curle up! He seems to be more confident with light than without.. whats yours like without the light?
That was a good pic you last put up. Can see the fangs now.
