Hello guys thought I'd show some pics of me mangrove jack.. he's mean as hell but for now pretty shy. I'm aiming to put him my dorado and scombroides all in a tropical display pond at some point..(pond not built yet btw)
Is there many people on this site who are currently keeping any jacks at all? Would love to see some others.:)

A few memebers had some and did see them for sale a while ago. Yea very aggressive fish. Don't think the scomberoides will survive. Dorado are mean as well. It might have a shot.

Catch em all the time here in Florida when I go fishing.

In anything smaller than a pond I wouldn't even think of it of giving it a shot. Dorado cichla atf and scombroides. Iv kept together 15 years ago or there abouts sweet no problems. But entering a jack into the equation and well it's luck of the draw I'm thinking... find out soon enough I guess.. I'll make sure to show a video of the event..(landing net at the ready) lol

I have kept them in the past, mean fish and with the teeth that they have it comes easy to them lol.I like their juvenile coloration as opposed to their adult colors, they resemble datnoids when they are small.I know them to come from Australia and other locations in that area but I wasn't aware that they were in Florida.

The ones from Australia and other places end up being the true freshwater.

The ones here in Florida go to full salt as adults.

Agreed great looking aswel when there small, and into everything..cool.
But I must say personally I do like the dark plum-maroon colour as they grow out. There a very cool fish. And how heavy would it be to have a display pond like that...
Also kno42e.. I'm now jealous you can go and fish them when ever you like brother..VERY COOL..

In Florida....got a lot of variety.

But rather catch some tarpon. Lot more fun

They do but less intense. Plus when I catch them the color is faded due to being caught.

I bet...TARPON=HARD CORE..
I kept them many moons ago aswel with cichla and the rest.. growth rate was nuts. Due to that I'd never keep them in Aquaiurm again.
