Interesting stuff. It's crazy to see what science comes up with, I imagine all breakthroughs seemed insane at first discovery? NO matter our opinions things will progress, time marches on, in the meantime I will just do my best and enjoy science articles and Monster fish.

Yeah pretty much. Every new advance has some idiot running around like chicken little or using it to argue inane crap not in any way related to the topic. We are not playing god (so many bad puns here). We are just modifying what is around, re-boring a block is not the same as casting your own engine.

Man creating life is not a good thing...... Sure we could come up with stuff to make fuel, but if the technology gets i to the wrong hands, a super virus or bacteria could be created that would kill us all... Man shouldnt play the role of god.

If this is something you are actually worried about then be afraid of molecular nano-tech and genetic algorithms not synthetic DNA. Making DNA strands has been around for a long time, expensive but possible. This is just a really cool machine to do it faster.

As far as "super virus" we have plenty of those created by mother nature. Look up hemorrhagic fevers some of which are airborne. The reason that they haven't been used it that they haven't been weaponized, which requires mainly creating a vaccine for them. That's the first step to weponizing them effectively.
