I actually have a clown and a 6 line wrasse in the tank now but I was planning on removing them...are you saying they might be ok? Even with a spearer? I would think not but I guess anythings possible

BTW I now own a Zebra Mantis! :headbang2...But I cant pick it up for another two weeks.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO fish with spearers!!!! people have tried keeping larger fish, angels etc with them and the mantis just ends up going for it anyway.
either braking it's chelea (sp) or actually getting stuck on the fish or just pestering the fish to death.
i forget what kind the zebra is but if you ask on that site i referenced they will know. but the only mantids you maybe could keep fish with are smashers.

and pc's are fine but you''l need to make sure there's some dim spot for him to make his burrow, otherwise he'll make a larger one and spend more time in there.

Thats what I was assuming but I just wanted to make sure after that post about striped fish being fine. In retrospect I wouldnt even consider trying this even if they claim to be safe. The zebra is the largest mantis species with an adult size of over 15 inches! So FOR SURE it will be a Mantis/Feeder only tank ha ha

Ive heard that high power lighting can give them problems...but you think pcs are fine? I may cut back any ways to help stop algae

are inverts like emerald crabs safe with a spearer? Obviously not a smasher but can a spearer even hurt them?

bump

no, the peacock is the largest, about 12'' if i recall correctly ebras are kinda small, they could be kept in a 10or so gallon tank, peacocks need at least 20L's.

PC is by no means bright, i think by that they mean like halides and HQI.

spearers will definatela annoyt the hell out of them, especially if underfed, but they won't die

nope you were right i was thinking of the bumblbee mantis apparently...

Yea I did some research and decided I NEEDED it once I found out its adult size ha ha. He will need a big tank one day in the not so distant future but for now hes quite small.

Picturing a 15" mantis shrimp taking down a LARGE fish just makes me smile :D
