Anyone here keep them and have pics to show or stories to tell?
I have seen some people here that keep them. They'll probably post fairly soon. I think they are absolutely the coolest invert out there and I'd love one as a pet. The peacocks especially are incredibly beautiful.
Are they easy to care for?
Define easy? But yes its fairly easy to keep one I would say the same as keeping a YTBD lol so fairly easy. How big of a tank would a big peacock need, and how much feeding?
A full grown peacock would probably need a something at least in the 10-20 gallon range. I like to go larger than the minimum for tank size. So I would personally keep one in a 40-50 Just because I like to give the extra room. In the wild they have the whole ocean to move around in so I like to give any organism I have a very comfortable home and not confine it. You should feed a variety of foods. Some people feed shrimp, fish, and squid, are good foods. I'm not terribly sure on how frequent you should feed it depends on the size of it and depends on the tank temp too. How long do they live?
They live about 4-5 years in captivity. Can they be kept with a few corals, plants, or anemones?
You could keep them with some corals, anemones, and plants. The problem is they burrow and move rock around so getting them not to turnover a rock with coral on it would be hard. Are acrylic tanks really necessary?
Yes an acrylic tank would be necessary. They are extremely powerful animals and could shatter a glass tank if its too thin. Its much much safer to go with an acrylic tank.I'd appreciate any and all info you have to offer
As for substrate you would need a fairly thick sand bed and if you choose you can use a pvc pipe burried in the sand to provide a burrow. Also rock hiding holes are a good idea since they sometimes prefer to hide in them.
Thanks!
