As big as rhoms? Maybe in the wild, I've never seen a captive manuelli get to 16-18 inches. 75 is fine, they grow slow and most of the time the extra 2-3 feet the the 125 won't be used. If it was me I would put a divider halfway in the 125 and get both piranhas if you don't want to decide from one another.

Manny. You can find rhoms fairly easily, I'd say get the manny since they're so hard to get now. If you get bored or need to sell him for any reason, you shouldn't have any problems doing so quickly.
As far as size goes, no captive raised rhom will attain the 16-18" wild size in home aquaria. You'd have to buy it large to see that size. I have seen multiple 12-14" captive raised mannies though, so if you have the patience for them to grow full size, the manny will more than likely hit a larger adult size. Rhom will probably max out at 10 or so inches.
I like how big rhoms get, vary impressive seeing a large one in person. I would get the rhom. Or what about a Serrasalmus Elongatus? What I've seen on YouTube and people I've talked to, they are worth your wile if its aggression your looking for and the look different than normal piranhas!
I've seen 17 inch rhoms, just look on YouTube. Only reason we don't see them that size is because no one ends up keeping them for 18-20 years since that grow slow. Yeah mannellis are harder to find but easier to drop over. But who am I to say, I've never had a mannelli and don't really like how they look.
Most piranhas do hahah. Only time my rhom comes out is if I walk by the tank, he's a little back stabler haha, scrambles back into his hide when I turn around!
not all, my buddy had one awhile ago, it was a black mask elong and he would freak out when anyone came near the tank, i swear if the tank didnt have a lid that hing would have jumped a bit my faceoff!
btw OP if i was you i'd get the manny, they look amazing and mean like hell! i love rhoms but not a big fan of the diamond's now if this was a peru jet black rhom it would be a totaly diffrent story just my 2 cents
Personally, I would like to own both. I would go for the Manny because they are super rare and it will be much easier to get a rhom at a later date.
I have never heard of anyone growing a rhom or manny from 4in or less to more than 12in. Most rhoms that go beyond 12in are brought in at around 9-10in. Just keep in mind that both fish grow incredibly slow. I have had my rhom for 14 years and he went from 2in to about 9/10in.
All piranhas are super boring, maybe somebody should take my advice and save their money for something else. I have owned 2 manny's,1 black diamond rhom,1 black rhom,1 geryi, 1 sanchezi,1 compressus and redbellies. I kept these fish for long periods of time and my black diamond rhom I had for over 4 years. So can't say I bought them on a whim and sold them the next day. I am just helping you out and trying to avoid you the disappointment to own either one. If you were going to buy anything Piranha....Then spend the money for a 15 to 16" black rhom. They have totally different personalities then the small ones. When you buy them at this size don't expect them to live for 15 years as they are already "OLD" but the personality will make up for there short life span. Probably live 3 to 5 years. Take it from someone that has done lots of research on the subject of piranha's.
