Manuelli or Rhom?

All piranhas are super boring, maybe somebody should take my advice and save their money for something else. I have owned 2 manny's,1 black diamond rhom,1 black rhom,1 geryi, 1 sanchezi,1 compressus and redbellies. I kept these fish for long periods of time and my black diamond rhom I had for over 4 years. So can't say I bought them on a whim and sold them the next day. I am just helping you out and trying to avoid you the disappointment to own either one. If you were going to buy anything Piranha....Then spend the money for a 15 to 16" black rhom. They have totally different personalities then the small ones. When you buy them at this size don't expect them to live for 15 years as they are already "OLD" but the personality will make up for there short life span. Probably live 3 to 5 years. Take it from someone that has done lots of research on the subject of piranha's.

Im going to disagree with you on the geryi, my lfs has a giant one and it attacks the glass when ever someone comes near.

I would get the manuelli

Tons of fish attack the glass when you go to feed them so does that mean it's aggressive or is a fish you should own. I had an Aimara that attacked me everytime I tried to feed him or clean the tank. After it had the spaz it would sit there for the rest of the day like a piece of driftwood. There are tons of fish that will attack the glass that also have tons of personality. Some that come to mind is an Oscar, green terror, pbass, and stingrays to just mention a few. Every time I stick my hand in my tank I get bit by my RTG arowana. Not fun and something I don't really look for in a fish but I have to put up with it whether I like it or not. He's a douche and I would like to kick him in the nuts but it's only a fish.:nutkick:

PS:every time he bites me he draws blood!!:asianarow Never once was I bit by any of my piranha's that I owned.

^haha nice man i know what you mean, my oscar will come near the glass if i get withing 7 feet of the tank, tons of personality

All piranhas are different. Some can get really aggressive and some are very shy. Even with avid piranha fans there is always a large turnover on the fish. I have had the same rhom for 14years and there are few people that have kept the same piranha for longer. It seems like many people trade and switch between the different species of piranha all the time.

Not sure what the price tag on the manueli is compared to the rhom, but I would expect it to be easier to trade or sell than the rhom due to the difficulty of getting one.

^ This is a true keeper right there. 14 years keeping a rhom shows you're no poser and you did your research and knew exactly what you were getting yourself into.

I guess my question is where are you going to get a manueli :) Havent seen any vendors with them, so you might have to go private seller. There was a private seller that just sold his 8in manueli for $150. I was wishing I had room for the extra tank :)

I'd have crapped my paints if I saw one that cheap
