:grinno: was gonna go bare bottom tank but it looked realy empty (2foot tank with 1 1" turtle) so had to decorate till he grows a bit

Congrats on your new little map! All baby turtles grow fast and expect this species to double or triple in size the first year. Most map turtle species grow quite large but Mississippi Maps happen to be some of the smallest with males reaching up to 5" while females can reach twice this size.

Here's a good care sheet to read up on. Good luck with your turtle.

You mean females grow quite large;) Most males stay on the 10cm mark or a bit less. VERY funny and atractive turts. They are great starters but wach for skin probs wich this guys are prone to if water quality deteriorates. Keep him in the 28 celcius for the water and with a basking place. Its better to keep the botom bare. Dont regret because its empty, it will in fact give him the swiming space this guys love. But some aquatic plants like Anacharis, a big smood peble here and there and big peace of cork for basking are very good adicions:D What are you feeding him?

i'm feeding reptomin turtle pellets but allways got worms, bloodworm, shrimp etc for my fish so can he have any of these?
the water is kept very clean as its runnung off a sump with one of my tanks.

how long should i leave the basking light on for? i read a few websites that said 24h but im goin for 12h as it seems more natural (day/night)

also are there any fish you can keep with them? have seen vids of them with fish on youtube, i dont wanna stick it in a comm but i would maybe think about puttin a plec if it would be safe

i am kinda hopeing it's a male due to the diff in size! and women are allways more difficult to keep happy:ROFL:

Good sence:grinyes: No more cheers today for the guys that rigth that:grinno::screwy: 12 hours periods of ligth is more than enough. Dont forget is very beneficial that you give your turt uv ligth from a good brand like zoomed´s repti sun(no compact ones)

First no plecos,:grinno: they can cause damage to your turtle shell and skin. Is risky to put fish and turts together but you can try cheap small schooling fish that hopefully will be to fast for her like danios and white cloud minows. Quarentine them before putting them with your turt

No kidding;) Also they can have health problems related to egg producion and laying wich happens with or without a male

wont put any fish in then, was only gonna put a plec in too do some cleaning for me lol
