Marble cray has eggs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I bought mine as a juvenile (about 1" long) back in March. She had her first eggs by september I think. And is now carrying her 3rd clutch of eggs.

**** IT TAKES SO LONG ! haha i've had mine for a few months. i want eggs already :(

They must grow into sexual maturity to be able to reproduce. Also, if they are of age but are not reproducing and you are positive you have a marmorkrebs, there must be something stressing out the crayfish. When they feel insecure about there surroundings or the water is not to there liking then they will have trouble berrying up. Provide them with plenty of hiding areas, remove predatory fishes and keep the water clean and aerated and you should have some babies soon.

Question: Will the eggs not hatch if exposed to air? I moved two pregnant females into their own tank and exposed them while netting/moving, its been about a week and they don't seem to have the eggs anymore

Exposing them to air will have no effect on the eggs. Sounds like they got stressed out and released/ate the eggs. Moving them is a stressful experience from the crayfishes perspective.

hen i take them off were do i put them? n for how long?

Im assuming you mean the babies from the mother. IME the mother doesn't even eat the babies. Just keep them well fed and you shouldn't have cannibalistic problems. This does NOT apply for other crayfish species.
