Is this a Marble Xingu Rhom????

because he said the following on his thread...

1) Gold gill plate rhom is from xingu river

2) It have elongated body

3) It looks more like a black bass

4) The diamond is not as fully covered like a blue or regular diamond rhom

so this is the better pic of the rhom...

Could it be possible???

;)

1st) there's really no way to tell. The yellow is something a lot of xingus possess, but didn't you say it was collected in Peru? The Xingu rhom is from the rio xingu in Brazil.

2nd) this is the kind of marbling pattern G was talking about. You can see it in his pics if look closely. On that fish it's just a finer marbling.

1)The last owner said its from Peru, but the trait given by others as it looks like Xingu.. so I dont know

2)Is the fish even consider a diamond rhom or just a normal rhom??? (only bottom half got shiny scales)

I think this is the marble diamond rhom G caught

That first marbled pic is amazing! ( The one that Diogenes posted..) How much would one like that cost?

alot if you could even get it. All the best fish go to asian markets first, especially japan. I've personally never seen a rhom like that with my own eyes, and G who deals piranhas said the only ones he's seen are the ones he's pulled out of the river himself.

What i've learned recently is that you can talk about geographic variant morphology in rhoms all you want, but what it really boils down to is that no two P's are alike, even in the same spot, in the same river. There's just no way to look at a fish and guess it's point of origin. When you apply a category like "xingu" or "guyana" what you are in essence doing is describing the point of origin, not a set of characteristics.

As the old adage goes, "there's no telling unless you pulled it out of the river yourself"

Most heads will tell you the same.
