What i've learned recently is that you can talk about geographic variant morphology in rhoms all you want, but what it really boils down to is that no two P's are alike, even in the same spot, in the same river. There's just no way to look at a fish and guess it's point of origin. When you apply a category like "xingu" or "guyana" what you are in essence doing is describing the point of origin, not a set of characteristics.

As the old adage goes, "there's no telling unless you pulled it out of the river yourself"

Most heads will tell you the same.

Very true.

While I am at it

if the fish pectoral fin is bended, will the fish heal it-self???

or have to cut it and wait for the fish to heal itself???

comment please, thank you

I can't imagine why you'd need to amputate the fishes fin. Right now there's a crick in my neck, but i'm not about to cut my head off....

all piranhas are amazingly resilient. The only delicate fish I can think of in the family is S. manueli and it's not really delicate, it just wasn't ever meant to live in a glass cage. They can survive all kinds of stuff lesser fish cannot. Fins generally grow and heal quickly.

The pectoral fin looks like a twisted limp... if you see a normal fish the first bone on their pectoral fin is straight, but this fish I got, his pectoral fin is bended like S shape.

Just wondering if the fish can fix up the problem or does it require "others" to do the job for it?!?

I am not going to ampulate the fin, I just want to know, if the problem is fixable or not!?!

I use to have a ST datnoid with similar problem, and it doesnt heal at all, if its bended it stays bending...

Depends on how "deep" it goes in... Post a pic of the offending fin and we can totally tell you what you got.

The pectoral fin is bended and unlike the normal one that is straight across..

The last pic shows the fish is rotting or burning ?!? (near the top fin / its white / temp is at 27o), is that the result of overdosage of pimafix??? (I added pimafix to treat a damaged scales flowerhorn across the egg crate)

In all honesty it looks a bit to deep in to "cure" it. If you nipped or altered it to try and make it look better, it might not even grow back. Or maybe even worse looking.

Give him some time before you try anything with it. It may, may just grow back (with age) to normal.
