Miles.... i have thought the same thing also.... but I have owned all three and the nice marble pic that you posted doesnt show any characteristics of the castexi aside form the pattern. What about the larger tail and the different shaped disc.... still dont know what to think about these marbles....
I agree the tail and body structure might tend to be dominate to a specific species.
Perhaps if a Motoro, only has 5-10% Castexi involved due to generations divided, it will control the intensity of the pattern carried by the Castexi, but not effect the body structure of the Motoro.
Just a thought..
I was thinking about creating a "what if" family tree, with pictures to show examples.. and percentages to show domination of body structures. It would kinda be a waste of time, but fun

The write-up I made on Asian Hybridization Culture shows some interesting points, in that a hybridized ray will randomly have a small percentage of pups from each litter have sporadic patterns. All the other offspring will carry the dominance of one species or the other, and will have little to no distinguishing traits from the dominant parent. (Example: Cross Motoro X Leo, You have 8 pups.. 6 Motoros, and 2 crazy ones that look like Mantilla).. When you think about the scenario, it throws in a whole new whack of ideas..
I am starting to think Potamotrygons are the guppies of the Amazon

Flooding forests, huge river systems, prolific live birth, pinnacle predators, polymorphism.. all play a big factor on why they are so stinking hard to ID.
