i have allways used emperors and got a ac110 when the dr.foster deal was going and it locked the first night and the growling sounds woke me from a dead sleep. ---------So basically all filters can be junk. And i have noticed that with my sand bottomed tanks and wilder acting fish that those filters on the tanks go out alot quicker than my graveled tanks.
i have 2 penguin 350s on my girlfriends 55 and they are ok they squealed at first but quit after a while i think it was the rubber stop on the bottom of the propeller shat rubbing but im not 100% sure the biggest problem with hers is the biowheels not spinning
Ok, so you got a defective filter. Before you go running off bad-mouthing marineland, remember that all manufacturers have defects in a percentage of their products. Why don't you get one that works and see how well it performs?
P.S. Not a big fan of 350's either, the emperor 400 is a much better product.
well i called marineland up today they stuck by there 3 year warranty soo there going to send a new impeller shaft and housing sooo im going to try that if i dosent work they said they will replace the entire unit its self and basicly give me another filter very happy with there customer relations and service i do give them props there
i have had a peng. 350 now for 3 years and it never gave me a problem,i also have the rena hang on filters and LOVE them, especially after you add on their heaters.
sweet filter, kinda bulky but keeps my water crystal clear and the heaters replace the intake tubes. i have one on my 29g shellie tank, and on 2 10g tanks, also pretty darn quiet
I'm satisfied with marineland, i love the look of their stuff. although my canister is kinda sluggish, i think something is stuck in there...
But i love the little "key" feature to remove the hoses, no stupid valves and screwing needed.
Just unplug, flip up the key, twist and pull, i could probably take the top off my marineland, replace the impeller and get it back up and running faster than i could take the top off my cascade.
