Marineland Stealth heaters vs. Ehiem Ebo Jager

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use Stealth's as well. Don't know about Ebo's, but Stealth's have a lifetime replacement warranty if they fail. As I've had a failure, I do know they stand behind the product. A simple phone call, explanation of the issue, and that was it. A few days later the new one showed up at my door.

and the crappy part about the new ebo is its not fully submersible. i have the biggest ebo heater you can get sitting at my house in box casue its not fully submersible... it wouldnt work in my tank :(

yes it is. in certain states and provinces they are required to to say that in order to meet certain electrical standard associations (eg CSA in Canada).

the heaters ARE fully subermersible. there is no difference between those heaters and normal Ebo's.

For example, in order the even sell the ebo's in canada, they have to meet CSA standards. In order to meet these standards, they have to put that label on there..

don't worry. Its fully submersible :) Just ignore the water line.

comments from another board surrounding the confusion:

From what I understand Kgolem has it basically right.

This is basically what I read, people have posted email conversations with Eheim folks about it.

When Ebo-Jaeger was bought out, they moved the manufacturing plant back to Europe or closed the one in the US or something like that. Since the heaters are now made in Europe they need appropriate paperwork to get re-classified as submersible in the US and Canada.

They are sold as totally submersible in Europe, but not in US or Canada...yet. The exact same heater. Many people use it as fully submersible. The European website also indicates they are full submersible.

You can find all this info on Reef Central and other sites...it comes up often.

my package didnt say fully submersible

i was just reading on google, and it says the new TL version is fully submersible, so does that mean the other one i bought like 4 months ago isnt???

no. the ebos were never not fully submersible.

they have always been made that way.

I'll try and get some more info on the confusion.

the waterline is just a requirement to meet standards that are necessary if they are going to sell their product in certain places.

they don't make two different heaters, one submersible and one nonsubmersible. they are all the same.
