Here in Toronto, Canada I visited several supermarkets looking for MP (market prawns). For over a month, all I found were live shrimps and no store ever used the word 'prawn' over here. Heard the difference between a prawn and shrimp was that the former was a little bigger and from freshwater. Shrimps are found in saltwater and prawns in freshwater.

Hilarious, after visiting several T&T Supermarkets I now actually found one shop that labelled it as prawns and the rest were shrimps. Now that I finally found some prawns, here's my question:

Have an HBRTG aro that I brought home last month. It's now only 6 inches, but is it suitable for me to start feeding the live market prawns at that size? So far, it's basically only been eating mealworms as its primary food, with the occasionally frozen bloodworm.

Sure you can. Just remove head, tail, and deshell. You might wanna cut to smaller pieces if the prawn is to big for the aro. Why not feed your aro shrimp since it seems its more avalible in your area compared to shrimp. I feed my aro shrimp.

I feed my small black 2 shrimp a day. I try to break it up into two feedings...once before work and once when I get home, but that doesn't always happen. :nilly:

I feed my bigger guys every other day. My silver will take maybe 2-3 shrimp, where my jar will eat until he pops...but I try to limit him to about 4 shrimp but he always steal some from either my gar or marbled pim. :D
how big is you larger silver?????

how big is the live ones? juss take off the sharp points u can chop in smaller pieces, feed mine MP wif sera vitamin tablets, sw n small frogs gut loaded

i feed my aro shrimp as well. i take off tail and shells then cut it up into small pieces.

I usually feed my 23" silver whole shrimp, no shell no tail. I buy the frozen pack's of shrimp and juss thaw about 4 pieces to feed him. The tail and shell come off easily. When he was smaller i had to cut up the shrimp into smaller pieces. I try to avoid feeding with the shell and tail just because I don't want any digestive problems, as he is in captivity. Prawn and shrimp are basically the same, juss a small difference in size.
