Just for reference, these are supposedly juvenile marmorata.

Pretty similar to the fish in question and every other small lugubris group pike.
 
Here is a couple of photos of my Trombeta and Tapajos at 5.5"-6" Clearly able
to see the markings. The Tapajos were much further along with their color change
than the Trombeta was at similar size. As you can see the Trombeta still carried
most all of here spotting which she eventually lost. When I got the Tapajos
at 5" they had very faint markings which were gone by the sizes in the pics.

Now that I look at your last photo, on the upper back it does appear that
their are markings appearing, They just could be Marms. Only way to find
out is hang on to them and see.

thanks for the nice photos hm there are variations of the same type..does not help identifing them ta for your input..
 
Each collection location can be considered a different fish to a lot of people. To some degree, I would agree, especially after collecting in Uruguay.
