Marsh Killifish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Great price, I have seen them at $1.99 each.

Marsh killies are very nice fish. The males get a lot of spangling on them. We get these fish from time to time from brackish environs.

I suspect the fish from the picture, though, are mummichogs, F. heteroclitus, rather than confluentus. Marsh killies don't have the bluish metallic hue and barring like I think I am seeing in the pics. They will be more of a brownish color with less distinct barring. Either way, they are nice fish. Male mummichogs are one of the absolute nicest looking natives available.

cheap and free stuff is awesome!

I would like a little variety, even if I have to pay for it.

1 Datnoid
1 Archer
1 Needlefish
2 Figure 8s
1 Blue Crab
1 Fiddler Crab
2 Mollies
1 Columbian Shark
1 Bumble Bee Goby
1 Silver Scat
1 Mono Argentus

I guess you could call that variety! haha

I think they are the marsh killies, mummichogs are heavy bodied asnd get pretty good sized, hard to tell from the pics.
Here are two pics of mummichogs followed by a prime marsh killie male.

The bottom picture is not a marsh killie. If I'm not mistaken, that's Fundulus zebrinus, the plains killifish. Regardless, it is certainly not confluentus.

He said these killies were already bigger than his puffer. Confluentus maxes out at 2-3 inches. Whereas, mummichogs get 6 inches easily. I'm sticking with mummichog. Is there any way we can get a better pic?

No pics til my tank stops being cloudy and my camera has batteries!

Don't forget the killies.:)

Yea forgot the killies, but forget about the needlefish. The blue crab ate him this morning. Now the blue crab lives alone. lol

The killies are crazy, I threw in a frozen silverside for my puffers and chromide and they destroyed it. What they left was given the the blue crab and he took everything but the skull!
