KRS, I'm sorry for taking the thread off topic. I had to listen to a FnG official for an hour today talking about Snakeheads and how "bad" they are and the ways people have tried to get around owning them, so it was a little bit of a kneejerk reaction. But to tell you the truth I'd still go with the wolf, much more rare in "Canada" and most likely won't go nuts on your other fish.

Keep the pike for sure man.... activity, intelligence, curiosity, tenacity, speed, power. These are all great qualities that the pike has .... the wolf is all about ambush and lethargic behavior. Great that its rare but who gives a rats ass about that... how much more appealing is the pike ? lol ..... pike rule!!!! I would never choose any other fish over my cobra pike or dwarf pikes thats just me.

You know what really kills me about some of our officials that delegate the laws that prohibit what we can and cannot keep? Is the lack of actual real hard core studies. Lets get one of those guys to study the true impact of channa in US waters like lets say for example the effect that human intrusion and poaching is killing off the large ape populations in the old world? Im saying compare the studies, what im saying is lets put the study through a rigorous process like they do for the manatee, the large apes, the elephants,.........its never gonna happen. Why because they dont give a shi$ they dont want to spend the funds and they know deep down inside that they really have no effect in with the fish population. I have spoken to a few people who have established populations of these pikes right in their backyard. And these folks are still catching huge large mouth bass and game fish that were there way before the pikes were. Thanks to the media and their mass hysteria ... and the ding dongs that flush their fishies most hobbyists that are responsible keepers dont have the opportunity to keep these awesome fish. Lets talk about animals that have a huge impact in their enviornments F G lets talk about feral cats who have single handedly extincted species on their own... talk about a truly destrucitive animal

Muillinaust, thank you for your opinion. Like I said before, your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's. I appreciate your input. Just out of curiosity, why was F and G grilling you today? Honestly, that would have thrown off my reaction to the question too, lol.

Varanio, regarding your first post lacerdae aren't like your common wolves. Yes, the rarity, but they are way more active and interactive. They don't just sit on the bottom of the tank all day like malas. That's why this would be such a difficult decision to make. I like the look of the wolf more (it's like a pitbull), but the pike is more active. But the gap between each fish's looks and activity level are very close though, so that's why this would be a difficult decision.
Regarding your second post, that is a whole different can of worms. We could all write essays and compose them in to a books worth of information and opinions, lol.

seriously get the pike. I use to have one. Was bad ass. Whenever i put my face right up the front of the tank he'd come right to my face and his eyes would turn from a dark brown colour to a bright yellow colour. SWEET FISH

if you pick the wolf .....let me know ill be glad to take the pike off your hands lol :)

I was purchasing a fishing liscence at a local lake's bait and tackle while the FnG official was stopping by and I asked him about what I need to do if I find a Channa, and he just started rambling on and on....

Variano, if you want to know a good reason why Channa are illegal, blame California's "if it's not pot, ban it" attitude these days.

Muillinaust, you make a good point, but that would only include California. They're not illegal here in Vegas because of California's attitude on banning everything but weed.
