Massive pop eye

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, daily changes. Nice and easy to do since it's a 6 gallon tank. I can actually pick it up and drain it by hand (which is good, because I get no suction at all with the python when it's down at floor level, it sucks). I'll take another photo tomorrow when the lights come on and I do another change.

I am not sure what fungal meds I have on hand besides Pimafix and jungle's fungus clear tabs. Which are nice but they're never clear about how much of each drug is in them (I have even called jungle in the past wondering what their metro dose is in the parasite tabs). They're so cheap that I always worry that it's a weak dose. Any recommendations on what would be best for him? Fungal is the one area of my fish medicine cabinet that is understocked.

Dpending on if its the really tuffy cotton fungus or the flat hard looking fungus. If its more like the second one then its true fungus. I've had best results with Maroxy. If its the cotton one use pima or furazone

Heh, nitrofurazone was actually what the tank had in it (for the rainbow) when I put him in there. It definitely looks cottony, not flat. Just a really small spot of it. I'll put a little bit of pima in right now for overnight.

Just did a water change for this guy and the white spot is totally gone and his eyes are no longer disgustingly popped out. They're still big, but more like when I first got him, when I noticed it but thought maybe it was just due to him being underweight. He's definitely bored in there. I may see how things go these next few days and if all is well maybe put him in the big tank again with his friends. The other three from his group are all doing well - not perfectly stable 100% of the time, but much more active and social. And eating like pigs whenever I feed krill.

I wouldnt be in too much of a hurry to add him back. Make sure he puts his weight back on because if he gets bullied back in the big tank, he might not get the food he needs to recover. Take your time getting him back into good health before introducing him back in with the other dats ;)
