i like cichlid gold but i have never tried any others. is the massivod soft?

try some Sinking Carnivore. It's just mini massivore pretty much and you can get a small bag at PetCo for like $10.

Yeah ive tried that, they wont even look at it. My Firemouth in the same tank loves it, but the big guys wont even consider it. They look really hard at EVERYTHING before they eat it. I guess thats just one of the challenges of having all wild caught fish. Even my Mono which will eat till he pops wont touch pellets.

well, unless they're not looking at it because they think it's too small, massivore prob won't work much better. I would try some cichlid gold sinking.

my tems took pellets from the first time i tried LOL.
but IMO pellets aint good as a staple at all for cichla...
i mix hikari predator pellets with shrimp usually.
and when i do only feed the pellets,i could finish the whole bag in about 4 days.
and mind you my bass are like 6-7".
its great as a supplement though.
and i know what you mean by messy...
lucky my other fish eat up the bits.
