1. convict pair-40 gallon breeder for life
2. jags- can be kept in a 50 gallon due to dimensions if alone but are able to stay in a 55 for a few years if a female. Males i think grow at a more rapid rate
3. JD'S and GT'S- can stay in a 50 gallon for life if alone or with 1 or 2 smaller fish.
4. Severums- are hard to predict size i had one that stopped at 8 inches and i had one hit 12 inches and both were same sex and in the same tank.
5. Oscars- need atleast a 75 cuz a 55 is pushing it as far as turning for such round fish.
6. midas cichlid-75 atleast but a 55 is ok for a year or 2.
7. Parrot-u could keep 3 in a 55 cuz they grow so slow i had one for 3 years and he's not full grown yet but very healthy and in my soon to be parents in laws 50 gallon.
Opinions vary
1 true
2 NOT even close to being true
3 not true either
4 never seen a 12 inch severum and didnt realize they get that big
5 true
6 maybe a yr...2 is pushing it
7 eh, maybe.
Opinions dont matter, experience does. You can grow all those fish up in a 55, but that doesnt make it right. Your listings are BARE minimum for all but the convicts...and even thats smaller than what I would keep full grown convicts in. A jag in a 50 or 55 wouldnt work but until it was about 6-8 inches and the fishes sex has nothing to do with its growth rate in my experience.
No offense, but maybe you ought to spend some time on here for the next month while trying to decide how to house the fish you are wanting. There is enough info on MFK (from experienced people who keep them, not opinions) to show you why your views on keeping the fish you are talking about are basically incorrect. Minimum tank sizes are not the way to keep healthy fish.
