In your opinions what tank size could you get away with if you had the following fish? This is for each fish not all in one tank. 1 per tank but take into mind most will have a few tank mates.

JD- should keep to himself but will whip the parrot's @$$
GT- will kill the severum, fight with the convict pair, the oscar, kill the parrot and fight with the jag and midas all day
Severum- be killed by the jag and GT
Convict pair- not appropriately sized for others
Oscar- kill and be killed
Jag- kill and kill
Parrot -killed and be killed
Midas- kill and kill

For a setup like this, think at least 500g, ATLEAST. Alot of these fish should be kept in single species tanks of at least 75-90gallons.

Man, I have never seen someone post so many "what kind of fish should I get?" threads as this BALLER34IG. If you're determined to make a fish miserable with a too-small tank, just go ahead and do it. Don't try to get people to agree with you in a thread to make yourself feel better.

not all of my threads are about my tank. I take care of multiple tanks that aren't mine. I get paid by friends and fam to care for their fish. They ask me about adding fish and if it would work. I'm just starting a new tank and and wanted to know what could work with the fish that survived my accident. I'm mjust gonna setup a growout tank for 2 bichirs a severum and either a jag,GT,or JD. I wanted to know if it would work in the long run cuz i will upgrade to either a 75 or 90 gallon. I also have a 125 in my basement that needs a top and light fixture and stand. But thats a future tank. The stock i wanna keep in the 50-55 gallon will only be for a about a year. I wanted to know if it would work. I have never kept a jag in a 50 or 55 that was over 6 inches. Mine was moved to my 75 when it was 6 inches along with my JD, oscar and midas. All fish were the same size then they were bought by a friend. The jag is my favorite fish next to the pacu which ive kept but will not buy cuz a 300 gallon tank for me is not an option right now.

Ok, this is getting old. You have 4 threads including this one that all have the same topic, what to restock your tank with.

You just had your 75g crack and had a significant fish loss. You should be setting up a tank for the fish that survived and focus on them. Not creating multiple threads trying to figure out what to restock your tank with next. If I were you I would take a step back and see what got me into this hobby in the first place. Rant over.

well my loss has become others gain one of my senegals is going to stay in my parents inlaws tank as they love the lil guy. the severum is in my gf's 30 gallon cuz he's only the size of a half dollar and wont be added to the tank for a while after its set up. I'm just gonna stop with the bs and setup my 20 gallon long tank and put a baby jag in it for a month or so to see his aggrssion level and go from there cuz by then my tank will be up and running. The reason for all the post is because you get different answers if you put a question in different forms and time. ive posted and gotten no responses then some i get alot. I'm not lookin to piss ppl off. Everything has mad me take a step back and decide on what i really wanna do and that keep my favorite fish. thjos happen to be the gold sev, the bichir, and a jag. Thats what i want my tank to be. Sometimes ppl say it may not work so i ask what will. I dont need to be talked down to by anyone cuz no one on here has the right to disrespect anyone for anything. I'll listen to what everyone has to say even if i dont like it. Thanks for the replies

lol..Wild or tank bred has nothing to do with growth. Water conditions, diet and genetics control that side of things. IMO a male jag in anything less than 120-125 gal is just insufficient.I pretty much say the same for females as I have seen plenty around the 14" mark. A 50 gal is just ridiculous for such a species.
My 15"+ tank bred and raised male.

My last tank bred and raised male. Pretty much on 17" RIP.

Good post (and pics!) GT. Thanks for bringing a little reality back into the picture!

ok so i went to the fish store cuz my fiance had had to get rid of a bunch of her baby mollies. i decided that in a year i'm going to buy a 90 gallon tank. they had it for $925 with stand and filters and pumps but i dont need all that stuff. does that sound like a good deal or no. I'm gonna put the fish i have in it then get a jag ans see if it works out but the jag wont be bought for a while

I think you could get a cheaper 90g on craiglist. A nice looking one with everything could be bought for $200-300.
