Well he is about 9" now.The slot in the divider does sound like it might work. Also is a 90g tank not th same footprint as the 75g only deeper. I do have a empty 55g I could put my male back into. Then put the female in the 75g let her get adjusted and then put the male back in a couple of weeks. Could this be an option and still use the divider.

footprint means lengthXwidth, no height. standard 75gallons and 90gallons ARE the same footprint. Between these 2 tanks it wouldn't make a difference. It would be stupid to put a divider in a 4' tank, whether it be 1 day or 10 years. If your fish has been isolated for so long hes probably not going to accept a tankmate in a tank that size. If you do the divider and get a female, you'd be better off leaving the divider in there forever.

you could do this but im just saying if they hit it off strait away then there will be no need for a divider.. just incase. if i was u id try to get a 7"+ female this will be harder. the 90G is still better because it has more water XD what filtration u got on the tank, for a pair id go with atleast 2 externals and possibly 1 internal if u have 1

:iagree: how u been buddy?

75 is too small.Need at least a 125.
You could try the inclomplete divider in the 75,I don't recommend it myself, but I have seen it done. And then You'd have to leave it in for good.

not neccesarily have to leave in for good, if the pair actually become a proper pair then the divider shouldnt be neccesary

I've seen a lot of pairs that one day snapped 2 years later.

why not put the pair in the 180 and let her get established first? what do you have in the 180? would it work in the 75?

yeh but this is the risk you have to take when breeding fish in this size tank when the fish are like 10"
