i am curious to see anyone elses pics of mateing injuries my leo has been really beaten up lately it seems like the male wants to kill her :nilly:
i seperated her from him for about a week and then let her go again she seemed so happy to be free and starting eating like crazy well now she is beat up again i am going to seperate again.
i am just frusterated she does'nt like to be couped up i have added salt etc..
i will post a pic

Bummer Brent... I really wish u the best with ur leos. Any pics of the newest wounds??

yeah he bites the spiracles bad i wish he would leave her alone!
But i do want them to pair up again what to do what to do

I usually leave the male in there until I can't bare to see any more wounds. Sounds bad but it seems to do the trick. Sometimes they turn out to be pregnant, sometimes not, but its better to separate than to lose a ray.

my marble female is worse right now.. I feel really bad for her. Im pulling the male tomorrow. I will get some pics up soon

wow....the price and stress of pups...

Maybe its something your feeding, For example when I used to feed shrimp to my rays only 3 of my motoros would eat it and the other 4 rays would start to nibble on them including smaller rays but then i just stuck with nightcrawlers and pellets and it never happened again so it might be something in the food thats leaving a scent or taste on them that makes the other rays think they're food. Just a thought:D

That looks pretty rough. The spiracle bites always made me nervous. My little male histrix (the one that was killed a year ago by one of the females) used to bite the heck out of the largest females spiracles.

I would separate the two. That has to be stressful on the female. That stress could lead to complications with the litter (size, frequency, health, etc.).

Pat over at amazonstingrays.com often keeps one system with just males and the other with females. It cuts down on the wounds.
