IMO, what he does with his life is none of my business. I'd like to remain constructive. The destruction starts when people start telling others what to do, rudely invading personal space. That's an unwelcomed, not-asked-for, hatred-producing ordering around. The OP asked for an advice, thoughts, feedback, none of which is a license to order or (attempt to) impose your thoughts and values on their relation with their pet.

I can understand the point of being constructive, however, if someone says they keep a dog in a cage indefinitely should everyone say dogs need a bigger space to run or wtf are you doing, let the dog out?

Right and this has been already said, I think very, very clearly and almost in unison. To which OP offered very little, essentially no reaction, which is disappointing/impolite also, I understand how it may be annoying (BUT we may be the cause of it!). Thus, truly we don't know what he/she thinks. Chances are, the OP does not want to engage in a fight of words with less tolerant and less constructive folks, what is commonly called the flaming war etc. on MFK. Anyway, it is a big supposition to accuse the OP of animal cruelty at this point. But even if it was the case, animal cruelty to a fish is not known (much) to the law and is not enforceable, definitely not by yelling at someone across the "pond" or in their window, which has been proven to give rise to even more evil, IMO.

There exists a line beyong which evil (attack on/hatred of/aggression to a human) outweighs the good (love of the animal). IMO, it's been crossed here, sadly as in innumerable other MFK threads.

Just my thoughts, mate!

Well put. Its unfortunate how some topics become powder kegs and blow up so quickly. I understand the sensitivity to protecting the fish in question but as the saying goes, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Let's keep this on track guys. He already has the fish and we need to do our best as fishkeeping community to help him keep it the best he can. Encourage him to do whatever you will, but do not flame when I'm sure almost everyone on this site was once that person who got a fish that would eventually outgrow the tank they have them in. For some reason myself I bought a ID shark for my 100 gal aquarium. Reasoning in my head was I can keep him longer and better than anyone else in this town. They have max size listed as 12" for these guys. :( makes me sad to think all those ID sharks being sold here and there are no serious fish keepers around that have large tanks here. I live in a small town. All those ID sharks are being sold to people with 55 gal tanks or less. So for now my ID shark will live in my 4' x 2' aquarium, and when he outgrows it I will probably have to either upgrade myself or put him down. There is just no one around here with large tanks. The ones with large tanks all have saltwater, but that's what you get in a town of this size.

Point being is you guys don't know the whole story behind this guy. So lets try our best to help him out. :) Or I might have to put some people in time out! ;)

Thanks for the support man. These People need to relax, I had 24" silver Arowana, he got to big so I donated to a pet store with a 600 gallon pond. When the time comes for my TSN that will probably the same story. So all u complainers calm down and STFU! I've had fish all my life so I really do t need to hear drama. Thanks again

"When the time comes" is now. He isn't getting too large for your tank, he is too large.

It's very unneeded to tell people on here too stfu . Kinda rude too. As some points say get a bigger tank others are saying you will be fine for now. Some are just trying to help others not so much. Before saying anything on it did you know what you where getting in to when you got your shovel nose?
