Hey Peeps
Atm in australia there is a big heatwave. I went to check on my aro and he is eating fine as normal but not as much as normal, i then realized that the temp in my tank is 40.1 degrees... thats hot.... the heater is unplugged at it is still around 39.4 degrees. I have retested my digital thermometer in my small grow out tank and even under running tap water and it seem to be working fine. ..SO question is ... will my aro be fine in water that high for a period of time??

try and lower the temp by placing a sealed bag of ice cube in the tank until you get the the temp to a desired level

i have actually put half a bag of ice ... 2.5kg of ice ... the temp lowered only 0.8 of a degree. tank is a 4x2x2 and about 3/4 full .. atm i have a extra large fan blowing onto it hoping it will cool it down a litte.

i see, do as much as you can, i think you'll be ok, what type of aro was it again?

just checked temp again ... 40.4 degrees :( ... its a green aro

add as much ice bags as you can even if it only helps a little, i think youl be ok, what temp does your tap water come out at,what about a water change to lower the temp

Are you sure that it is possible for the water to get that hot from air transfer...
Its 43 degrees here but the max on my tank is 28.
Anyhow, with the lid off make sure ur aro doesnt jump out..
Greens arent allowed in Australia.. "not good mate"

i tripled and quadrupled check...couldn't believe the temp but its coming with the same temp each and every time... my grow out tank is sitting at 36.6 .. both tanks have no heaters running. the house temp is already sitting around the 37degree mark also
i know... but i couldn't help myself... i just love the shape and the fish. apart from that im a good boy

Better be careful bro.. The dissolved O2 concentration would be very very low in that high temperature. Put in more air stones n use a bucket to circulate the water.
Also, optimal conditions for beneficial bacteria are from 28 - 35C, so reduce feedings these few days too.
Remember, too large a temperature fluctuation can cause death... Watch the Ice-blocks..
Better with fan but make sure it doesnt jump out...

Keep the lights out and check the temp with a different thermometer digitals can sometimes be way off, add more oxygen. good luck
