maximum temp???

Hi, just wondering what is the max temp for JD's, O's and GT's. The temp here yesterday was over 110. One tank that had inch long JD baby's got to 95 and i lost about 12. At what point will the fish cook, my GF wants to know when to make a salad :WHOA:.
 
Optimum temp is between 78-84f.....95 degrees is extremely high, don't let the water temp get so high, you can do this by adding cold water to the tank as needed....
 
What are some of the things other people have done to reduce temp? I have added cold water about 50% of the tanks but it didnt lower the temp much. They are now down to about 86.
 
keep your lids off the tank so the air can get at them, maybe even break the water surface with the outlet of your filter, i'd hate to live in adelaide or melbourne right now 40+ is too much for me :eek:
 
If you have or willing to use a air conditioning system and cool down the room that the fish tank is in...
 
The biggest problem with temperatures that high is oxygen. Be sure to add some kind of bubbler to agitate the water. THat and some big water changes. The trouble with adding a bottle of ice is that it won't radiate fully through the water. If it gets that hot consistently you need the chiller.

Iam setting up a room for all the tanks soon. I will be putting in a 1.HP split system reverse cycle air con. It normally don't get this hot for more than a few days a year. I could slap up a chiller in no time but it would be getting it to chill all the tanks then having heaters and the chiller fighting each other sucking heaps of power. I have lots of flow in the tanks and lots of air, it was mainly one room that got really hot. Iam hoping that the air con will run cheaper than heating 10 tanks with separate heaters and will also be able to cool them if needed. Last year I froze a small coke bottle and put that in a 50g that worked but there was plenty of circulation to distribute the temp.
