maybe stupid question, but will my fishes get COVID from me?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A week ago I had the 3rd shot of vaccine and a week later I got infected with covid.

Ok, thanks for the information. From what I have read thus far, that 3rd dose of Pfizer requires 10-15 days to really ramp up the bodies defenses for this variant. Sucks that it snuck in during that timeframe, but the good news is your body should have some very high natural protection now, hopefully long term. Time will only tell I guess. Best of luck with your recovery.

Those who know me also know I rely on the science. So I did my homework re covid and fish and have a definitive answer.

Abstract

This paper was prepared in response to the need for clear communication regarding the risk of transmission of the
novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that causes COVID-19 in humans and the
general societal concern of potential contamination of aquatic animals used as food or their products with the virus.
SARS-CoV-2 belongs to the family Coronaviridae and genus Betacoronavirus. Betacoronaviruses are only reported to
infect mammals. Currently, there is no evidence to suggest that SARS-CoV-2 can infect aquatic food animals (e.g.
finfish, crustaceans, molluscs, amphibians) and therefore these animals do not play an epidemiological role in
spreading COVID-19 to humans. Aquatic food animals and their products, like any other surface, may potentially
become contaminated with SARS-CoV-2, especially when handled by people who are infected with the virus.
Nevertheless, with proper food handling and sanitation, the likelihood of contamination of aquatic animals or their
products with SARS-CoV-2 should be negligible. The COVID-19 pandemic may indirectly affect livelihoods, food
security and nutrition for populations that rely on aquatic animals as a source of food or income. However, COVID-19
outbreaks may also lead to an increase in local community consumption and/or utilisation of aquatic food animals or
their products due to limited transportation and trade away from the fishing and harvesting communities or limited
supplies of alternative sources of animal proteins.

How are you doing?
Frankly, I am touched with your message! I had friends who have not dropped a message at this time of difficulty to ask how am I doing. But you someone far away who have never met me checked on me. Words cannot describe how grateful and happy I am by seeing your message.

I have fully recovered and I have no symptoms at all.

thank you dear friend!

That’s great to hear. Thank for your comments. We are all in this together. God bless everyone and Merry Christmas!

My coworkers who have had it say it’s like the worst flu you can imagine, body aches like being hit by a truck.
Most of them are still experiencing brain fog months later. I’ve also met ppl have lost their sense of smell and taste- and that it doesn’t come back the same or quickly.
It’s no joke.
When I had swine flu I thought I was dieing and this is supposed to be worse. This was like ten years ago I was so bad the doctors put me on a morphine drip in the ER waiting room.
I had swine flu and that really effed me up for almost 8 weeks. I haven’t had Covid but I’m extremely cautious. I know someone that wasn’t vaxed and had a mild case and now has clotting a year later. From what I understand, you should recover quickly without the long term effects since you had the shots.
I don’t really see how fish could get it from us but I’m not a medical expert.
