Apparently full strength salt baths help to flush out IPs. I believe there is a sticky in the poly forum?

I used to do this every few months for my sa/ca as a preventative when i was a good fish keeper. Going to feed the polys/cichlids this tonight

maybe Epsom salts, I don't know about regular salt however. Epsom salts will flush a fish.

I quarantine every fish now. My qt involes a full 3 treatment of Tetra Paraste Guard. This has multiple meds to deal with both internal and external parasites. If the fish comes in with any noticeable external issues like ammonia burns, fin rot or the like, then I do a MB with salt bath. Not dip but bath where the fish sits in a bucket with the stuff for 1/2 hour minimum and if I have to treat for a few times will take it to 3/4 to 1 hour. MB is great for increasing oxygen in a fish and especially when dealing with ammonia poisoning.

I lost an entire tank of fish due to not doing qt on two new wild caught cichlids. The loss hit hard because the fish lost were a few years old and I was very attached. So after that I learned my lesson and have done qt every time now and have had zero issues.
