Perfecto ! Qt doesnt have to be fancy just allow you to accomplish what ever you feel you need to before putting a fish in the main tank. Infact i would remove the little pipe too. Will be easier for you to observe the fish.

You could absolutely qt a small poly in there if it were short term. I dont qt most for long maybe a week, i just like to get 2 pg treatments in and im usually satisfied. So i leave the tank as bare as possible. If it were anything linger then i may provide some hides. I wiuld consider the sponge a hide if it were me so the pipe is meh

What are you planning to treat it with ?
How big is the main tank ?

This is an 8 gallon. I plan a week or 2 of pellets or other foods soaked in the epsom solution and monitoring for anything askew. I just want a hide to minimise stress.

I would like to get a poly around 3-4" or so. It's cheaper and gives me more room to grow tank mates. By the time I get it only 2 African knives will be in. Considering a bush fish and maybe a second poly. I'm struggling to find fish to fill the tank

this is why qting is the way to go. Read the last page. Something I would have never considered if it weren't for mfk
