MBU behavior--what does it mean?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just got back from my trip and he has 2 cysts left. 60% water change with salt added. Temp still set to 89. I am going to try garlic next week. Stay tuned...

ICH is gone. I did my biweekly waterchange today and dropped the temp to 86. If the ich doesn't show back up, I will gradually work to get the temp back down to 80.

How's the mbu?
He is doing well. The ich is totally gone and has not come back. He is currently dealing with (what I think is) a pretty deep heater burn. However, he is eating just fine and the skin is slowly growing back. I did treat with bio bandage for the first week but have just been diligent on water changes.

So....it has been over a month since the heater burn incident and the wound is still healing! He has hit a growth spurt and is now 10" long. I am waiting until his tail heals completely before introducing him to his forever home of 1100g.

Are mbu's slow healers?

1100g? That is going to be an awesome home! What are the dimensions on that aquarium?

The 1100g is 10'9" x 48" x 42" give or take.

I am about to plumb in a 70g tank into the system as a holding tank. The tank's dimensions are 30" x 18" x 30". The mbu will be transferred there and get comfortable before going to his forever home.

Update: Mbu is in its 70g holding tank. He's about 9" and pretty mellow. I'm gonna wait til he hits 12" before putting him in with the big boys in the 1100g.
