Oh, lol. Now I get it. Sorry, been a long week.

Place some mdf and some plywood in a bucket of water, leave it there for a while and see what happens, that alone might change your mind.

Sounds like a plan. After testing Ill make my decision. Ill try and post pics.

bingo! leaks can and will happen, its just a matter of when.

Do all plywood tanks leak? Is it an inevitability?

Like others have said though, I would just go with plywood.

But its up to you, all we can do is try and steer you in the right path.

nothing lasts forever. im not saying plywood tanks are garbage, their great. even glass and acrylic tanks spring leaks from time to time. but i wouldnt build a tank out of materials that if it were to leak, it could be major problems.

Just use plywood. then you are sure not to fail with your project. MDF is not made to even come close to anything wet. Even if you coated it i would still be worried about the structural properties.

I've been working with wood for years and plywood is 20 times stronger than MDF.

They say when its built its suppose to be moister resistant but from seeing it get wet it dosnt seem to be that resistant. Im not saying its gonna work but its at least worth testing a piece.

Im not dismissing any constructive criticism and I appreciate the response. I just figured testing a small treated piece in a bucket isnt going to hurt anyone. You dont know till you try.

True. Let us know what happens.

Ive built sub boxes that were dam near impossible to destroy when we tried. Its a strong material.

If you have built sub boxxes than maybe you will listen....

MDF is inferior.

I know this cause I'm a DB Drag World Champion. I didn't become a champion by using MDF. I quit using MDF withing the first 2 years. 11-13 ply Baltic Birch is one of the strongest pieces of wood there is. MDF is used as sub box material cause it is dense and void free at a cheap price. NOT becuase of strength.
