One of the most under appreciated hybrids at Meadowview, S. psittacina x alabamensis ssp. wherryi. It's short, but when you take the time to look at it it's quite pretty. Very subdued windows, finely veined, and nicely curved.

Up on the hill we found that one of the crowns of the 2 purps had rotted. Not a good sign.

It looked terrible. Something tore open the leaves to eat the insects it captured, it not getting enough light, and it's slowly dying.

We cut down a few trees and surrounding brush to open up the area around the purps.
