African lungs are territorial. And often get more aggressive with age. And they can live 70-80 years. This you should have know before purchasing one...
I've kept lungs in ponds and found that the decreased visibility of the pond actually makes them harded to steer clear of. Fortunately, I did water changes on the pond (one of those Rubbermaid feeding troughs) through the built-in drain. I had a couple of close calls when fixing the filter, etc. though.
