Meanest snake... that could means anything.
Pitouphis snakes are one of the meanest in regard to the sound they make and the display they put on. Taminbar Island Pythons are very cage-defensive. Emerald Tree Boa are known to be demons. Really, there are a lot of definition of "mean".
Otherwise, the meanest snake would be the Monty Python... oh wait that is the funniest.

How can we forget the genus Dendroaspi! Black Mambas are freaking insane! That is one snake I wouldn't feel comfortable around. They're mean and extremely fast! Not to mention deadly of course.
Black mambas are not the 'meanest'. No animal is mean, I don't care what you say. There are better terms like 'defensive'. Any animal used to predatation in the wild is gonna be scared of you! Anyway about mambas, not the meanest. BUT the most dangerous when provoked. You piss them off, they WILL kill you if they see fit. They are territorial, fast, and crazy venomous. But mean? No.
All those snakes you mentioned are usually wild caught animals. A captive-bred and well-handled ANYTHING is most likely going to be well behaved unless the handler makes a fault. (Which happens a LOT, and is blamed on the animal for being 'mean')
Let them do what they want, and respect it. If they let you handle them, be honored and enjoy it.

Well, I just think he is looking for something to buy... kinda like how people think that piranhas are the meanest fish out there. Either that or he is looking for the most aggressive/defensive out there.
